Our latest focus is on Sports vests. As instructors we see a wide range of unsuitable attire at the gym which either offers little support, or leaves the wearer somewhat trussed up and having difficulty moving...... We thought we would take this opportunity to give you our top tips on what to look for when buying a sports vest:

1. Think about what type of exercise you are going to be undertaking. Will you be doing yoga? or running? or any number of different sports? Does it involve impact? (ie jumping up and down) Will you be lying in different positions? Look for something that suits its purpose. For running, you need extra support to help anchor you in place and minimise bounce. For matwork, look for a vest that won't ride up or fall down at the front.

2. Make sure that it fits. Ultimately you shouldnt be conscious of your clothing when you exercise. You should feel comfortable and supported. If you are constantly pulling down the front of the top and adjusting straps then your Vest isnt doing its job.

3. Look for built in support - with stretch marks and sagging being a nasty potential side effect of an ill fitting sports bra, you need to pay particular attention to the chest area. Is there adequate support? Is there a double layer of fabric to help keep you in place? Is the elastic wide enough so that it wont cut in? Are the straps sitting correctly on your shoulders and are they comfortable
